Methods and Products for the Conservation of Vandalized Urban Art Murals

The possibility of contemporary mural paintings to be “tagged” by vandals, with spray and/or markers, represents a serious problem for the conservation urban art. present study aims define applicability protective coating on murals’ surface preserve them against vandalism. research has been focused anti-graffiti products currently used in field cultural heritage conservation. These represent an optimum start point artwork from vandal actions. commercially available have compared innovative product, PRO-ART, specifically formulated YOCOCU collaboration Pelicoat, murals. At same time, it tested cleaning murals using different mixtures solvents and surfactants. experimentations carried out external walls, followed conducting situ tests (application tests, empirical evaluations colorimetric analysis), as well laboratory investigations (contact angle optical/electronic microscopy).
